Activity Leadership
NVQ Level: 2-
The Activity Leadership level 2 qualification is aimed at candidates who are coaches or coach assistants who are responsible for activity planning, delivery and review. Throughout the programme no two days are the same. You will learn how to contribute to the work of your team, prepare for a session, lead a session, conclude and review a session and promote safety in the sport and activity environment. Not only will you gain all the skills to lead group activity sessions in a safe and fun manner but you will also learn how to maintain equipment and also its use during a variety of leisure activities.

Candidates need to complete the following mandatory units:
Support the work of your team and organisation (213)
Prepare for activity sessions (201)
Lead activity sessions (204)
Conclude and review activity sessions (205)
Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation (215)
Support equality and diversity in active leisure and recreation (216)And complete the following two optional units:
Support the development of the sport or activity (208)
Set up, take down and store activity equipment (217)Funded candidates will also complete the following:
Key Skill Application of Number Level 1
Key Skill Communication Level 1
Certificate in Leading Health Related Activity Sessions
Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning Level 2
A valid matrix certificate (e.g. a first aid or NPLQ certificate) or a Wider Key Skill Level 2 -
Programme length currently 4-5 months approx

The qualification is currently only delivered through the Centre of Excellence for Fitness Apprenticeship programme.
