Operational Services
NVQ Level: 2-
This qualification is targeted at staff members who are heavily involved operationally within the work place such as recreational assistants. Upon successful completion you will gain a better understanding of how promote safety in sports activity environments and promote a positive impression of yourself and your team.
During this programme you will take optional modules according to your specialist area, which will be either dry side, pool side or reception. Throughout the programme you will also need to demonstrate competence in areas such as health and safety, dealing with customers, cleaning and maintaining equipment.

Candidates will need to achieve the following four NVQ mandatory units:
Give customers a positive impression of yourself and your organisation (203)
Support the work of the team and organisation (213)
Promote health, safety and welfare in active leisure and recreation (215)
Support equality and diversity in active leisure and recreation (216)And complete four of the following NVQ optional units (dependant on pathway chosen):
Resolve customer service problems (219)
Maintain the safety of the pool environment and it's users (13)
Process payments for purchases (15)
Provide a facilty reception service (16)
Set up, take down and store activity equipment (217)
Clean and tidy facility areas (21)
Deal with substances hazardous to health (22)
Check and maintain sport/play surfaces and equipment (28)Funded candidates will also complete the following:
Key Skill Application of Number Level 1
Key Skill Communication Level 1
Active IQ Level 2 Certificate in Sport and Active Leisure Facility Operations (QCF)
Award in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning Level 2
A valid Matrix Certificate (e.g. a first aid or NPLQ certificate) or a Wider Key Skill Level 2 -
Programme length currently 4-5 months approx
