LivingWell chose Lifetime as their partner to access funding and introduce a national training and development programme for all fitness team members in 2003. The aim was to offer all staff a training opportunity and therefore be the employer of choice, to ensure consistency of standards, and ensure all instructors hold REPs qualifications.

  • Following an initial mapping exercise to link in-house training to the national standards a bespoke training course was developed. The programme was communicated from board level and launched across all LivingWell Hilton and Premier sites.
  • An average completion time of eight months for the level 2, over 200 instructors were able to gain the NVQ qualification with a programme retention rate of 78% and completion rate of 76%.
  • Company staff retention improved 7% in the year the WBL programme was introduced.

Lifetime have consistently exceeded sector average completion rates. Sector average completion of NVQ for 2003-2004, 33%*, with achievements for Lifetime of 72%.
